For the Cake
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 cups lukewarm milk
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, powdered sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the flour and lukewarm milk, mixing until all ingredients are combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Cooling
  1. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.

Notes

Store wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze it completely cooled and wrapped properly.
