Ingredients

For the Cake
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup white chocolate, melted
For the Cheesecake Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for cheesecake swirl
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Method

Baking the Cake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, melted white chocolate, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix until combined and smooth.
  4. Divide the batter between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Making the Cheesecake Filling
  1. Beat the cream cheese in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the cream cheese. Mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the cream cheese mixture.
Assembling the Cake
  1. Place one layer of the cake on a serving plate.
  2. Spread half of the cheesecake filling over the cake layer.
  3. Top with the second layer and spread the remaining cheesecake filling on top.
  4. Decorate as desired and serve.

Notes

For an extra chocolatey flavor, you can add chocolate chips to the batter. Use room-temperature ingredients for the smoothest texture. Make the cheesecake a day in advance for better flavor development.
