  • 2 large leeks, cleaned and sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (such as Gruyère or Cheddar) You can experiment with different types of cheese for unique flavors.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation and Assembly
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, leeks, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half of the potato mixture in the baking dish, then half of the cheese.
  4. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese on top.
  5. Pour the heavy cream over the layers, ensuring even distribution.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm as a standalone dish or paired with a salad. It complements roasted meats and can be topped with fresh herbs for added flavor. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to a month.
