Preparation
  1. Caramelize the onions in a skillet over medium heat until they are golden and soft. Set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, cook the beef patty to your desired doneness and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  4. On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer the cheese, cooked patty, caramelized onions, and another slice of cheese. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  5. Grill the sandwich in the skillet over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese melts, flipping once.
  6. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with crispy fries or a fresh salad. Consider adding a tangy dipping sauce like ketchup or burger sauce for extra flavor.
