Main Ingredients
  • 4 medium Potatoes, preferably Russets Russets are best for a fluffy inside and crispy outside.
  • vegetable oil for frying Vegetable oil Can also use canola or peanut oil.
  • to taste teaspoon Salt Sprinkle on fries after frying.
  • optional to taste Optional seasonings (like paprika or garlic powder) Experiment with spices for additional flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin strips or wedges.
  2. Soak the cut potatoes in water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a towel.
Frying
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and any optional seasonings before serving.

Notes

Leftover fries last about 3-5 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container. For longer storage, freeze completely cooled fries. Reheat in an oven or air fryer to regain crispiness.
