Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf loaf of bread Any good quality loaf will work.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice.
  • 1 cup assorted vegetables Like bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, or any leftovers.
  • 1 cup cooked protein Such as sausage, chicken, or tofu.
Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Mix with olive oil for enhanced flavor.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • Ranch seasoning Optional.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the bread from the inside to create a cavity.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cheese, vegetables, cooked protein, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Fill the hollowed-out bread with the mixture.
Baking
  1. Place the filled bread on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Garbage Bread can be customized with your choice of leftover ingredients and is a fun dish for kids to help with. Store leftovers in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Bake from frozen with extra time.
