Ingredients
  

For the cake
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 can strawberry pie filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Choose quality cream cheese for best texture.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the melted butter with the yellow cake mix until crumbly.
  3. Press half of this mixture into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  4. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly over the cake mix layer.
  5. In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries.
  7. Crumble the remaining cake mix over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, let the cake chill for at least 10 minutes before serving. Add a dusting of powdered sugar, serve with whipped cream, or pair with coffee or tea.
