Ingredients
  

For the Banana Bread
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed The riper the bananas, the sweeter the flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Make sure it is melted for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup sugar White sugar can be used here.
  • 2 large eggs For binding the loaf.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Leavening agent for the bread.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Main structure of the bread.
For the Crumb Topping
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adds a caramel flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For a warm spice flavor.
  • 1/4 cup cold butter Must be cold for crumbling.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas and then stir in the melted butter.
  3. Add the sugar, eggs, and vanilla, mixing until well blended.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in the flour until just combined.
  5. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter, mixing until crumbly for the topping.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the banana bread batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with half the crumb topping.
  2. Pour the remaining batter on top and add the rest of the crumb topping.
  3. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve warm slices drizzled with honey or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days at room temperature, or slice and freeze for longer storage.
