Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk (warmed)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 large eggs
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup vanilla custard
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Extra butter for greasing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add warm milk and melted butter, then mix until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, kneading until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Assembly
  1. Roll out the dough and cut into pieces.
  2. Place a tablespoon of vanilla custard and a few chocolate chips in the center of each piece, fold and shape into balls.
  3. Place in a greased baking dish.
  4. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a drizzle of chocolate sauce or powdered sugar. Best when paired with vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
