For the Cake
  • 1 box vanilla or chocolate cake mix Ingredients for cake mix (eggs, water, oil as per package instructions) are needed.
Coating and Decoration
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or melting chocolate Use high-quality chocolate for best results.
  • to taste Sprinkles or flavored coatings Optional for that extra pizzazz!

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions and bake.
  2. Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large bowl.
  3. Roll the crumbled cake into small balls and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
Coating
  1. Melt the chocolate in a microwave or double boiler.
  2. Dip the end of a lollipop stick into the melted chocolate, then insert it into a cake ball.
  3. Dip each cake ball into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  4. Place on a baking sheet and decorate with sprinkles or additional coatings as desired.
  5. Let them set until the chocolate hardens.
Serving
  1. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Tips: Don’t skip chilling the cake balls to help them hold their shape. Store in the fridge for about a week or freeze for up to a month.
