Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas and melted butter together until smooth.
- Add the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
Baking
- Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve warm with cream cheese frosting or paired with vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
