Ingredients
  

For the brownies
  • 1 box brownie mix Use your favorite brand.
  • 2 pieces ripe bananas, mashed The riper the better for sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (optional) Choose nuts or chocolate chips based on preference.
For the brown butter frosting
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter Brown the butter for flavor.
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk Add more for desired consistency.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the brownie mix, mashed bananas, oil, and eggs until well combined.
  3. Stir in walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Frosting Preparation
  1. While the brownies cool, prepare the brown butter frosting. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk into the browned butter until smooth and spreadable.
Serving
  1. Once the brownies have cooled, spread the frosting over the top.
  2. Cut into squares and serve!

Notes

For best results, use overripe bananas for natural sweetness. These brownies can be stored in the fridge for up to a week in an airtight container. Warm them in the microwave for a gooey treat as needed.
